Drop-ins have ended for the semester.  Have a wonderful break!

Welcome Parents & Families!

Parents and family members can be an important source of information, advice, and networking contacts.  Encourage your student to seek out our help. Many students are not aware of everything that our office can do to help them with any questions about careers and jobs.  Other ways you can support your student include:

  • Becoming familiar with our services: Students are encouraged to engage with our office as soon as their first semester.  Starting early can help them make the most of their time at UAlbany.  Learn More
  • Learning about the importance of experiential education: Learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom.  Students can participate in several experiential learning opportunities while they are at UAlbany.  These opportunities can help them clarify their career goals and gain valuable experience for their resumes.  Learn More
  • Understanding the skills employers want from employees: Research by the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) has identified the key skills employers are looking for. Students build these skills from any major, student organization, part-time job, etc. Our office can assist students in how to best communicate these skills.  Learn More
  • Being patient: Some students come to college with a career in mind and never waver.  Others struggle with deciding or keep changing their mind.  Remember, they are only choosing their first career. Students will have several careers during their lifetime.

Encourage your student to connect with the Career and Professional Development team to learn how they can become a Career Ready Dane!!
