Please describe the experiences that have made you a Career Ready Great Dane:
My growth began through hands on experiences that closely aligned with my field of study, information security. Working with UAlbany’s ITS as a Field Support Group Student Assistant was a formative experience that took me beyond the aisles of IT work. It also led to additional opportunities such as working as a system administrator at a cyber lab and an analyst for NYS ITS. Through each experience, I’ve built more skills and have grown more confident in navigating my career field.
Advice for other Great Danes: Make the most of every resource available. This includes getting resume help, researching external programs and scholarships and connecting with mentors and peers. Additionally, remember that a “no” right now is not a “no” forever. Finding internships can be challenging, and it’s easy to feel discouraged but persistence pays off. Keep applying, keep learning and things will start to click.
