Joshua is a Career Ready Great Dane!

Major: Psychology

Please describe the experiences that have made you a Career Ready Great Dane:

This past fall, I was elected as a Student Association Senator representing my residential quad where I advocate for student interests in university meetings and discussions. I also review, debate, and vote on legislation and funding bills, helping to allocate portions of the SA budget to support campus programs and orgs. Additionally, I am a Senate Session Assistant at the NYS Senate. This role allows me to support legislative operations, observe policy development, and strengthen my communication skills in a government setting.

Advice for other Great Danes: Get involved early and start somewhere, no experience is too small. Take advantage of campus opportunities by attending workshops, events, job fairs and make an effort to connect with faculty, staff and peers. These relationships and experiences build over time and often open unexpected doors. Stay grounded, avoid overworking yourself, trust the process and allow yourself to enjoy the journey. Growth happens through balance as much as it does through ambition.
