We’re inviting candidates interested in communications, government and public relations, and campaigning to apply to the Tusk Strategies Fellows Program in DC.
The Tusk Fellows Program is a 12-month paid training opportunity with Tusk Strategies, LLC designed to help alums of diverse backgrounds advance essential soft and hard industry skills. These skills can be applied to a career at Tusk or beyond.
A fellow will get firsthand experience of the Tusk way of taking on and winning complex multi-jurisdictional regulatory campaigns, while building relationships with team players, advancing toward client-facing positions in meetings, and improving holistic thinking and thought leadership.
At the end of the program, fellows that demonstrate professional development, Associate-level proficiency, and alignment with our team’s core values may be offered an Associate position at Tusk Strategies, LLC.

Our team members are experienced civil rights lawyers, senior advisors to Attorneys General, top public relations advisors, advocacy and international relations consultants, Deputy Cabinet Secretary to the White House, Chief Counsel to the New York State Senate Majority, and influencers in corporate communications and public affairs. Educational backgrounds range from Political Science and Public Affairs to Journalism and Communications.
We provide the following supports to facilitate the program:
- placement under the auspice of a senior manager (Managing Director or Executive Vice President);
- active follow-up and feedback on measured competencies (writing, communication, research, and thought leadership);
- intentional progression from intern-like assignments to associate-level tasks, called growth opportunity assignments;
- one-on-one progress reporting and coaching with an HR professional;
- tailored training and materials on unique areas for improvement; and
- a mid-program and final program performance review.
We’re looking for:
- A person of any intersection of marginalized identity and experience, with a proven interest aligning with some aspect of our work, 0-1 year(s) of work experience
- Someone who can dedicate 30 hours per week to the program
- Alumnus in the NYC area
- Strong writing skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to comprehend and articulate problems
- Someone with curiosity and a willingness to exercise autonomy and take initiative
