This position is responsible for designing, conducting, and evaluating activities that improve health in targeted populations, promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing the financial burden of health care for the county’s population. These activities can take place in a variety of settings including schools, communities, health care facilities, businesses and governmental agencies. The incumbent is responsible for assessing community needs, assets and capacity, and administering strategies, interventions and programs. The incumbent also acts as a community resource person and advocates for health prevention and promotion. The work is performed under the general direction of the Public Health Nurse with a high level of autonomy and use of independent judgment in carrying out the duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Health Education, Nursing, Human Services, Human Ecology, Education, or related field; or
B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, nursing, human services, human ecology, education, or related field and one year of experience working in public health education or human services program that includes a community outreach component; or
C) An equivalent combination of experience and training as outlined by the limits of (A) and (B) above. Applications accepted until position has been filled.
