Department Overview
Oregon Center for Children & Youth with Special Health Needs (OCCYSHN) is Oregon’s Title V public health agency for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). We identify and address systems issues impacting children and youth with special health needs, ages 0-21. The duties of this position are in support of the mission, goals and objectives of OHSU, Institute on Development and Disability (IDD) and OCCYSHN as well as those of Maternal Child Health Bureau, Title V.
Function/Duties of Position
The Research Project Manager sits on OCCYSHN’s Systems and Workforce (S&W) Development team. The Research Project Manager actively promotes the health and well-being of CYSHCN through: health-related strategies across systems to improve the integration of care for CYSHCN through:
- Development and management of projects and programs that improve the integration and coordination of systems and services serving CYSHCN and their families.
- Informing state and community level organizations on policies and practices that benefit CYSHCN, with a focus on optimal physical, mental and developmental health for CYSHCN
- Support for cross-systems workforce development serving CYSHCN
Required Qualifications
- Master’s in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience OR
- Equivalent combination of Bachelor’s in relevant field in conjunction with training and experience may be considered
- Knowledge of community development principles.
- Ability to engage in systems thinking for an identified population.
- Ability to self-direct.
- Strong collaboration, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Strategic thinker.
- Politically astute.
- Clear communicator.
- Innovative and creative.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Special Education or Education, MPH, or MSW.
- Three years of experience working with or on behalf of children and youth special health needs.
- Knowledge of systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs.
