Internship in Public Affairs
Our office is looking for passionate interns who are eager to learn about government services and policy making while working on a variety of projects related to civic engagement, communications, design, event coordination, legislation and advocacy campaigns, and community outreach.
Program Requirements
- Minimum of 15 hrs per week
- Commitment of 1 semester
- On-site
Our program will run from Tuesday, May 28th until mid-August 2024.
Program Overview
Within the first week of joining our program, interns will be provided an orientation that gives them with in-depth training regarding office policies and procedures, professional etiquette, and what to expect over their first two weeks. Interns then will be assigned to a department within our office and will work under the direct supervision of a staffer. Here are some of the potential areas that interns will be working in:
- Advocacy & Coalition Building
- Constituent Services
- Data Collection & Management
- Event Coordination
- External Affairs & Partnerships
- Small Business Services
- Public Administration
Interns will also be expected to assist with
- Social services and case management
- Partnership and stakeholder building
- Policy and data research
- Small business and tenant outreach
- Attending events and meetings on behalf of the Assembly Office
