Simple Actions for a Successful Job Search

Graduation is quickly approaching for students this winter, and searching for a job can feel isolating and overwhelming.

If you are working with students who haven’t figured things out or feel discouraged, here are some helpful actions you can advise them to take.

Explore Career Paths

Encouraging your students to find roles and industries that match their interests can help to give their job search some direction. They can check out our exploration page or schedule a career exploration appointment with a career advisor to get started.

Get a Resume Review

Before sending out any documents to employers, it is good practice for students to have someone look them over. You can share our resume drop-in hours or have them visit our website to get started.

Network

Building professional relationships should be an integral part of the job search. Students can check out our networking page for advice and platforms to help them connect with people in their industry. For additional help, they can schedule a networking appointment.

Stay Positive

Sometimes, it takes a different approach or strategy to land that job. Remind students to stay positive and meet with a career advisor to discuss where they feel stuck.
