
Summer 2026 ILSP is live!
All Spring 2026 ILSP applicants have been notified.
The Internship & Living Stipend Program (ILSP) provides financial support to matriculating University at Albany Students with unpaid internships, fieldwork, or other approved experiential learning opportunities. Funding is offered via a grant award and can be used for transportation, supplies, housing, food and other incidental expenses related to an unpaid experiential learning opportunity.
This funding is provided by SUNY to remove financial barriers created by unpaid opportunities. Applications will be accepted on semesterly basis. For any questions, please contact careeropps@albany.edu.
- Currently Matriculating Domestic & International Undergraduate & Graduate students are eligible
- Students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits at the University at Albany
- Eligible Students will concurrently enroll in an approved Internship class during the experience (For more information about Internship classes at UAlbany, please visit here.)
- Eligible semesters for awards are: Fall, Spring, & Summer
- Research and conference attendance are ineligible for ILSP
- Students may only be awarded funding from the ILSP once per degree program
- ILSP awards are only available for current or future experiential educational opportunities
- If your experiential education opportunity is more than a single semester, you may apply either during your first or second semester of your experience. For example, if you are hired for an experience starting in September 2026 and ending in May 2027, you may apply during Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
- Before applying for the program, students will need to secure an unpaid experiential learning opportunity for the upcoming semester
- Complete the application via the button at the bottom of the page
- Award recipients will need to complete award distribution forms (see Award Distribution)
- Demonstrated need
- A complete application with thoughtful responses
- Good Academic (2.0+ GPA) Standing
- Applicants will be notified via University at Albany E-mail within 48 business hours upon Committee decision
- The Award Recipient email will contain an offer letter
- Recipients will need to sign a standard voucher & Attestation Form at Career & Professional Development, Science Library G-50
- Due to the nature of the forms, digital signatures will not be accepted
- If a selected applicant faces challenges in commuting to campus to sign the forms, please email careeropps@albany.edu
- Please note that students are responsible for reporting and paying any federal, state, or local taxes on any award received from the ILSP
- ILSP checks will be processed and sent a maximum of two times. Failure to receive your check after two mailings may result in reward forfeiture.
- International students who are selected must have a current I-20 document authorized by International Student and Scholar Services
- Any funding awarded by the ILSP is considered taxable income. Please consult with your tax preparation specialist to determine if any taxes are to be assessed
- The University is not required to file and will not file a Form W-2 or Form 1099 for any money awarded by the ILSP
