JOB DESCRIPTION

The Upper School Spanish teacher will be responsible for providing a student-centered, supportive approach in Spanish instruction for students in grades 9-12.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Provides direct instruction to students in Spanish. Core classes include Spanish 1-5.

● Plans and executes daily lessons for Spanish language students in grades 8-12.

● Develops an ongoing working knowledge of each individual student’s educational and emotional needs.

● Effectively collaborates with learning specialists to integrate recommended teaching strategies into content area classes.

● Communicates with parents to address learning concerns of students.

● Provides individual student assessment as needed.

● Shows evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students.

● Maintains complete and accurate records that are reflective of a student’s performance and growth in knowledge.

● Develops and maintains genuine, positive and consistent communication with parents.

● Contributes to and benefits from the campus community.

● Practices professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement.

● Participates in curriculum writing and other developmental programs and activities.

● Remains current in knowledge of the latest language teaching trends.

● Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required for consideration.
  • A 9-12 Spanish Teaching Certification

A plus:

  • Special Education Teaching Certification and/or Reading Specialist Certification.
  • Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience.
  • Responsive Classroom Experience
  • The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.

· Ability to manage stress, and self-regulate with a consistently positive attitude, strong teamwork, passionate, genuine, organized, internally motivated, service orientation, ability to reserve judgment and respond with curiosity and compassion.
