JOB SUMMARY
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will provide administrative and research support to the University’s research compliance mission in assisting the Office of Regulatory and Research Compliance to ensure the quality and integrity of work undertaken. The GA will be part of the Research Security Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement (QAQI) team. The GA will assist in ensuring that research conducted at the institution complies with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. This position offers valuable experience in research ethics, research security, regulatory compliance, and internal controls. This position is full-time (20hr/week in academic session and 40 hr/week during the summer).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
40% of time: Assist with routine research security compliance QAQI audits. Review documentation (for compliance with applicable regulations and policies; Conduct literature reviews or benchmarking research related to research security and QAQI best practices.
25% of time: Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and presentations of audit findings. Support data collection and analysis related to QAQI metrics and reporting.
15% of time: Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, filing documents, and managing logs or databases. Assist with organizing training sessions, workshops, or webinars related to research security.
10% of time: Help develop and update QAQI tools, checklists, and training materials.
10% of time: Participate in education and outreach activities related to research security compliance. Maintain confidentiality and data security when handling sensitive research information.
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Support the development of educational content such as newsletters, tip sheets, or case studies on research compliance topics.
• Attend relevant meetings, webinars, or conferences for professional development and provide summaries or notes as needed.
• Provide support during internal audits, external inspections.
• Help track and follow up on continuing education requirements for research staff or investigators.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Enrollment in a graduate program at the university
• Ability to work on campus between 8am and 5pm
• Ability to work 20 hours a week during the academic year and up to 40 hours a week when classes are not in session
• Strong interest in research ethics, compliance, and protection of university research
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to work in a diverse environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
