The intern decides the number of hours per week that fits the intern’s schedule, typically 5, 10, or up to 20 hours per week; as well as the length of the internship experience, typically 1-12 months based on intern availability and goals. Interns may not exceed 20 hours per week, to facilitate equitable, flexible, and sustainable engagement. We also provide documents to help you facilitate obtaining academic credit at your institution, associated with the internship, if desired. [Note: We entered a year for the length/timeframe of the temporary internship, to give you maximum flexibility; the actual temporary dates and timeframe are up to you — you will determine how long you will spend with us; such as a portion of a summer or semester, or an entire year.]

Weekly check-in with the Supervisor occurs asynchronously.

Position Overview:

Contributes to clinical and community-based research projects under faculty guidance. Supports various stages of the research lifecycle, including literature review, IRB documentation, data handling, and manuscript drafting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct and summarize literature reviews

• Assist in drafting IRB protocols and consent materials

• Support survey creation and recruitment tracking

• Collect, clean, and interpret data

• Contribute to manuscript writing, formatting, and reference editing

Mission Alignment:

• Our company also collaborates with the mission-aligned nonprofit research, patient advocacy, and education, organization My Heart Spark Foundation Inc, which is also known as the Heart Spark Research & Innovation Institute. You will also have the opportunity to volunteer with the nonprofit if desired.

If you advance to the final step in the application process, then you will be asked to sign an internship agreement contract, and will then receive access to your onboarding materials.

In this Intern role, if accepted and signed mutually,, you will contribute to clinical and translational research projects that advance health access, patient experience, education, prevention, and digital innovation. Our research spans clinical outcomes, digital health tool development, survivorship, patient-centered interventions, and health equity models. You’ll help support studies that bridge scientific discovery with real-world application—turning research into meaningful change.

You will begin with a structured onboarding process designed to set you up for success, including:

• A guided Educational Curriculum on research principles, health literacy, and academic writing;
• Mandatory completion of weekly and midpoint reflections to support professional growth;
• Ongoing competency tracking to assess learning milestones;
• Submission of progress assessments aligned with project goals.

You are also required to:

• Complete CITI Program Human Subjects Research training (IRB certification);
• Coordinate with your own institution’s IRB office to facility research in this internship;
• Complete a background check questionnaire (administered securely);
• Submit a Leadership Self-Assessment Questionnaire (to support your role on the intern team).

Additional Requirements:

• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality in all communications;
• Use approved tools (e.g., Google Workspace) for documentation and project work;
• Attend regular Zoom check-ins with mentor and project teams;
• Submit a final project (e.g., literature review, manuscript draft section, study protocol draft, outcomes report);
• Participate in optional leadership or peer mentorship activities if invited.

• Professionalism Standards:
  All written work must use professional tone, academic referencing (specifically only EndNote citations), and appropriate formatting.
• Ethical Integrity:
  Plagiarism, breach of confidentiality, or misconduct will result in immediate removal from the program.
• Portfolio Development:
  Each intern completes the program with a professional artifact (manuscript draft, research report, infographic, or study brief) to add to your academic portfolio.
• Optional Expanded Training:
  • Research writing coaching sessions (in intern small group);
  • Manuscript co-authorship opportunities (case-by-case basis);
  • Introduction to IRB submission pathways if project reaches pilot phase.

Supports academic, clinical, and community-based research projects. Responsibilities include literature review, IRB documentation, data handling, and manuscript assistance.

Manages internal and external communication strategies including email campaigns, newsletters, social media support, and messaging templates.

3. Educational Content Intern

Develops health education materials, digital learning tools, CME resources, and curriculum visuals for patients, providers, and internal teams.

4. Patient Experience Intern

Improves virtual patient navigation by enhancing onboarding tools, refining communication scripts, and collecting patient feedback.

5. Patient Advocacy Intern

Creates and adapts outreach materials for diverse patient populations, supports survivor engagement, and co-develops advocacy resources.

6. Web & App Development Intern

Designs and builds no-code/low-code tools for clinical care, education, and research navigation using the comprehensive Wix platform.

7. Technology & Tools Intern

Maintains dashboards and operational platforms such as Notion, Airtable, or Google Workspace to support team infrastructure and knowledge sharing.

8. Scheduling Systems Intern

Coordinates scheduling flows for appointments, meetings, and programs using Calendly and Google Calendar, and supports SOP documentation.

9. Billing & Reimbursement Intern

Simulates billing workflows, researches CPT/ICD-10 coding, and compiles payer policy summaries for financial documentation.

10. Insurance Navigation Intern

Contacts insurance carriers to verify plan participation, gathers credentialing info, and tracks benefits and communication scripts.

11. Credentialing & Licensing Intern

Researches medical licensing requirements across states, supports documentation, and tracks renewals for compliance across organizations.

12. Operations Intern

Builds and maintains systems, templates, and shared folders for intern operations, onboarding, and team alignment across Notion and Drive.

13. Quality Improvement Intern

Designs and distributes surveys, identifies process bottlenecks, and proposes enhancements based on feedback and workflow audits.

14. Leadership & Team Development Intern

Coordinates onboarding flow, leads student engagement activities, supports peer mentorship, and fosters team cohesion.

15. Community Engagement & Storytelling Intern

Gathers, writes, and shares impact stories, social narratives, and personal reflections across platforms to uplift the mission.

16. Grant Writing Intern

Researches funders, drafts LOIs and grant narratives, and organizes supporting documentation for applications and reporting.

17. Medical & Scientific Manuscript Intern

Drafts, edits, and formats manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals under faculty supervision.

18. Notion Intern

Designs dashboards, templates, databases, and shared views within Notion to manage team structure, intern progress, and deliverables.

19. Community Ecosystem Intern

Conducts user research with clinicians, supports digital platform growth, and enrolls participants in a professional digital network.

20. Clariovera Tools Outreach Intern

Promotes tool adoption inside the Clariovera ecosystem by onboarding users and tracking participation in The Circle, Sparkboard, and Compass.

21. Pitch & Funding Strategy Intern

Creates pitch decks and visual assets for programs, startups, and funding initiatives. Assists with investor communication and outreach.

22. Community Listening & Human-Centered Design Intern

Conducts interviews and journey mapping with users to improve service design and support patient and stakeholder-centered innovation.

23. Learning Management Intern

Structures content for online courses or LMS modules, assists in quiz development, and builds educational flows in Notion, Kajabi, or Thinkific.

24. Event Planning & Coordination Intern

Organizes virtual events including research showcases, onboarding sessions, and funder meetings, handling logistics and follow-up.

25. Audio/Video Production Intern

Produces and edits educational and promotional media including tutorials, reels, podcast clips, and pitch presentations.

26. Customer Experience / User Support Intern

Evaluates onboarding and tool clarity from a user perspective, identifies confusion points, and builds support documentation.

27. Social Media Content Intern

Creates and schedules branded posts for platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn. Supports outreach campaigns and post design.

28. Data & Analytics Intern

Analyzes usage metrics, survey data, and engagement logs to build dashboards, summaries, and visualized reports for internal use.

29. Digital Marketing Intern
