Summary of Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Commanding Officer, the Logistics Assistant procures goods and services for Canadian Forces Support Unit (Colorado Springs) (CFSU(CS)) and Canadian Element NORAD (CANELEMNORAD) and is the Contracting and Procurement clerk. The successful candidate will initiate payment via acquisition card, be knowledgeable of the procurement and contracting regulations, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) on CFSU(CS) / CANELEMNORAD contracting and procurement procedures. The Logistics Assistant will be in charge of supplies and material at CFSU(CS), their inventory and stocktaking. In particular, the individual must be knowledgeable of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Supply Administration Manual (SAM) with respect to Supply Customer Accounts. The individual is responsible to facilitate the issue and return of military operational clothing and to coordinate supply requirements with the designated base in Canada. The Logistics Assistant also serves as the facility manager for Peterson Space Force Base Buildings 365, 367 and 368, overseeing maintenance requests, conducting minor repairs, and liaising with custodial staff and base managers. Further duties encompass managing a fleet of three vehicles, coordinating with military transportation organizations, and maintaining detailed records and reports. The Logistics Assistant must ensure all forms, applications, and letters dealing with supply and movements are 100% accurate. The Logistics Assistant must be proficient in MS Word and Excel and be familiar with the CAF Military Writing Guide. Any other support duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Procurement and contracting:
- Procure goods and services for the Canadian Forces Support Unit (CFSU) and Canadian Element NORAD (CANELEMNORAD)
- Prepare statements of work, gather quotes and proposals, and prepare contracting documents
- Facilitate payments for goods and services
- Reconcile payment card financial statements and maintain a local budget
- Adhere to procurement and contracting regulations;
Supply Accounts:
- Order, ship and receive military clothing for customers
- Order and receive general supplies, and maintain stores and equipment for Colorado Springs
- Update supply customer accounts, create and maintain records/data
- Issue supplies for event support;
Facility and Fleet Management:
- Initiate work requests for building maintenance and repairs
- Complete minor self-help repairs and maintenance throughout the facility
- Liaise with custodial staff and base contract managers as required
- Coordinate with military transportation organization for the maintenance and operation of three vehicles
- Maintain records and reports for the building and all vehicles
Client Services:
- Attend meetings and provide related advice for planning committees and event organizers
- Provide advice and readily available information to internal and external clients
- Maintain a network of operational contacts with local and foreign military, service providers, suppliers, and local industries.
Area of Selection:

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.This position requires:
- A Secondary/High School diploma;
Language:
- An Advanced proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking) in English.
Experience:
This position requires two (2) years of recent experience in all of the following tasks. Recent experience is within the last five (5) years:
- Working in a/an office environment.
- Providing advice and/or client/customer service, clerical/administrative support.
- Using computer software, Microsoft Word and Excel, a range of office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, etc.
- Interacting with customers / clients.
RATED REQUIREMENTS

- Familiarity with Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) processes and administration.
- Experience working in an international environment and/or international organization.
- Experience interacting with government departments and/or officials.
- Operational Requirements:
- Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week.
- Willingness and ability to work on weekdays from 0800 to 1600 hours for 7.5 hours
- Work is performed on-site with limited flexibility for remote work.
- Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime outside normal working hours (e.g. early mornings, evenings and weekends) and potentially on short notice.
- Possess a clean and valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift/organize boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
Conditions of Employment:
