Associate Teachers collaborate with Head Teachers to execute the following responsibilities:
● create a safe, welcoming, joyful classroom environment that centers students and promotes growth through positivity
and prosocial interactions
● design, plan and lead classroom curricula in all classroom subject areas
● observe and document student progress through anecdotal notes and assessments
● assist with classroom management, encouraging appropriate social interaction between students
● support students in developing independence to solve problems in an effective, appropriate and successful manner
● assist with co-curricular programs & duties (lunch, recess, community time, assembly, etc.)
● engage students with the use of differentiated strategies and various teaching models over the course of the school
year (1:1 conferencing, small group, half group and whole group instruction)
● develop confidence in leading whole group meetings, lessons, studies and units over the course of the year
● build a strong foundations for trusting relationships with students and families
● contribute to family communications (report cards, conferences, newsletters, emails and general updates)
● participate in meetings with the Associate Teacher cohort, in order to reflect on teaching practices, to give and receive
feedback, and to grow as a professional
The successful Elementary Grade Associate Teacher at Corlears will:

Qualifications:
● Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferably M.ED, MA or MS in education, or in progress within 2 years of hire)
● Experience: Previous classroom experience with elementary-age children; foundational skills for academic instruction
and general student supervision
● Recommendations: Record for maintaining a professional work ethic including timeliness, attendance,
communication, collaboration, decision-making, follow-through, and adherence to school policies.
● Certifications: CPR/first aid certification; fingerprint clearance; certified record of COVID-19 vaccination
