Position Summary:
The Division of Student Life invites applications for the Assistant Director position within Orientation, Transition and Parent Programs (OTPP). As Assistant Director, you are a key member of the department’s leadership team responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and enhancing “New to UB” programs and initiatives designed to help incoming undergraduate students transition successfully to the University at Buffalo.
Your primary responsibility is coordinating the planning and implementation of New to UB student initiatives, including orientation programs, UB Welcome experiences, and Year One support.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Serving on the leadership team to support the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the New to UB experience.
- Supervising staff
- Providing general OTPP management, administration, and support.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience or master’s degree or professional certification
- Experience working in higher education (post-undergraduate)
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of student development theory, and its application to orientation and transition programming
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Interest and competence in working with culturally diverse (including international) students
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs or closely related field
- Experience working with student orientation and/or transition programs at a large, complex, public university
- Knowledge of and/or experience working with a variety of orientation structures or models (example, summer programs, welcome week programs, online programs, etc.)

Salary Range:
$58,000 – $63,000
