UAlbany Athletic Communications: Communications Assistant
Job Purpose
This is a two-semester (2025-26 academic year), 20-hour-per-week position that is responsible for assisting the Athletic Communications Department with day-to-day operations. Communications Assistants will be responsible for providing communications-related services for assigned teams while promoting the UAlbany Athletics Department, its student-athletes, and its coaches.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for all communications related activities for assigned sports, including but not limited to: stories, statistics, box scores, game notes, content creation, and other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for working individually and as a part of a team to ensure the high-quality management of social media channels for assigned sports.
- Ensure daily accurate and up-to-date information for assigned programs on UAlbanySports.com, team social media accounts, the UAlbany Athletics mobile app, and various other communications outlets.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Digital Content and Communications.
Minimum Qualifications
- A strong work ethic and willingness to work nights and weekends.
- Must possess a good understanding of collegiate athletics and be able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
- General knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Capacity to work with people in a multi-ethnic environment and develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with photography or videography.
Compensation
Communications Assistants are eligible to earn up to $10,000, working a maximum of 20 hours per week, from August until May.
