Student Assistant Career & Professional Development
The Student Assistant position is an administrative role that assists the office of Career and Professional Development to provide exceptional service to the UAlbany student community. This role will prepare the student to navigate their personal careers and educational goals. This is a critical customer service and support position in the office. You will be trained! Maximum hours per week allowed to work: 10hrs. Pay: $15.50/hour
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Customer service skills 2. Detail-oriented individual with great organizational skills 3. Adept in the phone and email etiquette 4. Adaptable and open to learning 5. Team player with great communication skills
- Front Desk: provide front desk support to the office by covering the front desk and related duties such as (75%):
Learning Outcomes/NACE Competencies: Communication; Technology; Professionalism; Critical Thinking
- Answering the phone.
- Taking messages.
- Directing calls to the appropriate staff member.
- Providing the appropriate/correct information to callers and or visitors regarding the Office of Career & Professional Development and it’s services.
- Checking the Career & Professional Development email and either answering said emails if within one’s scope to do so or forwarding said email(s) to the appropriate staff member.
- Administrative Duties (20%):

- Handshake Job and or Employer Approvals.
- Provide Students with Handshake Overview
- EAB appointment scheduling.
- CPD Website usage and knowledge.
- Monitor Chatbot
- Understand/Knowledge of all CPD related resources for students (online/website; published handouts, etc.).
- Assist students in signing in for walk-in resume critiques, when needed.
- Marketing/Office of Career & Professional Development Promotion (5%):

Student Assistants will be required to attend Student Assistant/PCA trainings on specific subjects which will enhance the NACE Career Readiness Competency of Career & Self Development.
All student workers will do the Work Interest Inventory in Focus2, and or Strengths Quest which will enhance the NACE Career Readiness Competency of Career & Self Development.
