Under the general direction of the Director of Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI), the selected individual for this position will be principally responsible for analyzing sponsored program data, developing analytics aimed at extramural research funding, preparing reports and projections based on the analysis, facilitating in campus-wide surveys, and supporting other priorities of the Division for Research and Economic Development.
Generate research activity reports and analyze data (grant applications, awards received, and expenditures) collected from data repositories including RF Report Center, PACS, Business Intelligence system.
Fulfill requests from across campus by providing accurate and timely data analysis and reports
Create and update visualizations to effectively communicate research metrics using the latest data
Facilitate campus-wide surveys and analyze results to support research initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a University at Albany graduate degree program on a full-time basis
Familiarity with data analytical tools, e.g., Microsoft Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with different departments and leadership
Ability to work independently with attention to detail
Ability to prioritize duties and meet multiple deadlines
Graduation in/after Spring 2026
Preferred Qualifications:
Current program or prior degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, or a closely related field
Prior work experience in data analysis or financial analysis
Familiarity with data analytical and visualization tools, e.g., Python, R, PowerBI, Tableau
Prior experience with Oracle, Business Intelligence systems
Hours/Compensation:
Spring 2025: 20 hours per week
Summer 2025: 40 hours per week
