The Department of Computer Science is seeking dedicated, proactive, and academically engaged Graduate Teaching Assistants (TAs) to support various educational functions within the department. This opportunity is currently available for the Fall 2024 semester. Successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining academic standards and supporting students in our degree programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching Support:
- Assist faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, and other miscellaneous instructional tasks.
- Will be required to lead discussions and laboratories under the guidance of the instructor.
Grading:
- Responsible for grading assignments, papers, and/or quizzes promptly and providing constructive feedback to students.
- Assist with the distribution of grades and handling queries or concerns related to grading.
Office Hours:
- Hold regular office hours to assist and support students with coursework, assignments, and preparation for exams.
- Provide additional academic resources or guidance as necessary to promote students’ academic success.
Departmental Colloquia:
- Attend all departmental colloquia and actively participate in enhancing academic discourse within the department.
- May be asked to prepare and present on relevant topics.
Eligibility Criteria:
Required:
- B or better in an undergraduate introduction to CS course OR;
- B or better in an undergraduate data structure course OR;
- B or better in an undergraduate course in discrete math, logic and set theory, or similar
- A high amount of integrity
- Excellent English-language communication skills
- At least one semester in graduate school with a GPA of 3.5 or above
Preferred:
- Experience with Java
