NYS Senate Legislative Graduate Fellows Informational Session

Interested in opportunities with the New York State Senate? Come learn about the Graduate Fellowships including the NYS Senate’s Legislative Fellowship and Memorial Fellowships from Nick Parella, Director of Student Programs. Applicants must have completed their graduate studies prior to the beginning of the fellowship. The Legislative Fellowship places students in a specific Senator’s office, where they will function as if they were regular staff. Fellows typically work on in-depth policy research and take part in meetings with a variety of interest groups and constituents. The Memorial Fellowships include the Roth Fellowship, Wiebe Fellowship, and Biggane Fellowship. The Roth Fellowship places students in the Senate Majority Press Office, the Wiebe Fellowships places students in the Majority Counsel/Program Services Office, and the Biggane Fellowship places students with the Senate Finance Committee. Each of these opportunities will allow students to work on relevant policy issues while getting experience working in the NYS Legislature. Applications open in the Spring. Senate Fellows are awarded a stipend of $50,000 for the nine-month duration of the program. On an annualized basis, this stipend would be equivalent to $65,000. The stipend is not financial aid for academic work, on campus or classroom study. This is an in person event being held in Milne Hall 104 Conference Room on the downtown campus.
