Internships for Academic Credit

Some internships are eligible for academic credit. When you get academic credit for an internship you must register for a specific class.  Usually there will be additional work that your instructor will assign in addition to working at your internships site.

First you must determine if you are eligible.
Check with your academic department to see what their eligibility rules are. Requirements may include a certain GPA or that you must have already earned a certain number of credits.  Your academic advisor can help as well.  Here is a list of the internship courses by department

If your department does not offer academic credit, there are several university-wide internship options.  These will count as elective credits instead of credits towards your major.   Learn More

You must make sure you have met all of the requirements before the internship starts in order to get credit.  You cannot ask for academic credit after you have completed your internship.
