Navigating Your Job Search After Graduation

Graduating without a job offer can feel stressful, especially when it seems like your peers already know what comes next. However, many graduates continue their job search after commencement, and not having a position lined up does not mean you are behind.

Instead of putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out immediately, focus on staying consistent and proactive. Continue applying to positions while also strengthening your resume, updating your LinkedIn profile, and building connections through networking. Many opportunities come through networking and personal connections rather than job boards alone, so don’t hesitate to connect with professors, alumni, former supervisors, and other professionals in your network.

While searching for full-time opportunities, you can also continue building experience in other ways. Part-time work, internships, volunteer work, freelance projects, and certifications can all help strengthen your resume and expand your professional network. Employers value initiative, adaptability, and persistence just as much as timelines.

If you need support along the way, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with a career advisor. Whether you’d like help with your resume, interviews, networking, or just thinking through your next steps, we’re here to work with you and support you through this transition from college to career.

Most importantly, remember that career paths rarely follow a perfect timeline. Your first job after graduation is just the beginning of your professional journey.
