5 Questions with a Career Champion!

Welcome to our monthly segment of 5 Questions with a Career Champions Challenge Finisher! Each month, we will talk to a Career Champions Challenge Finisher and share their wisdom.

1.                  Your name and title

Lucas Lavera, Assistant Director of Student Academic Support for the Graduate School

2.                  What was your favorite Career Champions Challenge Module?

Introduction to our Website! I think sometimes we will just say to a student go to their website to find out information about something, but I think it is important as a Career Champion to know where exactly to send students for the information they need. That is why getting a good overview of where to find important information from the Career and Professional Development Office was my favorite module.

3.                  How have you incorporated the Challenge into your work?

Helping students navigate through the website has been one of the things I found myself doing a lot after taking the challenge, and showing students information about the career fairs and walk-in hours.

4.                  What advice do you have for a Challenger?

Get familiar with all the wonderful things the Career and Professional Development office has to offer, and get familiar with the folks who work there as well! They are very friendly and have different specialties.

5.                  What is your favorite podcast/book/show currently?

My favorite podcast right now is So True with Caleb Hearon and the Broski Report with Brittany Broski. Favorite book the Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz (a Hawthrone and Horowitz mystery series) but honestly the whole series is great.
