Where is your internship?
Currently, I am an administrative intern at Hodgson Russ LLP, a practices & industries law firm in Albany.
How did you find out about your internship?
Through a close friend! We are both on the same career path and she previously held this position. She put in a good word for me!
What are your responsibilities as an intern?
Right now, the office is preparing for a move so I’m currently undertaking a large filing project. The goal is for Hodgson Russ to become a paperless firm. I handle various documents on various bonds and other litigation. I’ve also learned different programs such as iManage and FileSite which are used in the field to access legal documents.
What other clubs and activities are you involved in besides being a PCA?
In addition to being a Peer Career Advisor, I am currently a Resident Assistant on Indigenous Quad (the best quad!), which I have been doing since my sophomore year. I’m also a Peer Mentor within the WCI department.
What’s one piece of advice you have for students who are looking for internships?
Do not give up on your internship search! I applied to over 15 internships before I landed the one I have now. And, NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK! Always talk about your career goals to those you know. You never know what connections they have or how they may be willing to help.
Thanks Raquel! There’s still time to look for internship opportunities, make an appointment with our office!
